Vision
Understanding the - current or wanted - business operation of an organization is an important prerequisite to improve business processes and to align IT to it.
This understanding arises with a coherent picture of the products / services that an organization delivers and uses, the way in which people work together in business processes, which business rules they apply and which information they create and consult. This coherent picture is the basis for optimizing business processes and for evaluation, selection or development of supporting applications.
This explains the motto of ImproNotion: ‘understand the enterprise’.
In practice the focus is mostly or on business processes or on data. (Practical: processes are described in BPMN, data in UML, without coherence.) As a result they do not match. However by applying the proper methods it is possible to map out the business processes and data in an integrated way.
Therefore ImproNotion does not follow a waiter strategy ("What automation would you like to have?"). Instead, after analysis a picture of the company is created in which products and services, responsibilities, process activities, business rules and data are integrated. As a basis for applications that offer what the employees of a company need.
The name ImproNotion is associated to this vision. 'Improve' + 'notion' stands for 1) getting better insight in how a company is or should be organized by 2) sharp(er) defining the business terms ('notions') with regard to products and services, roles, business processes, business rules and information, including mutual relations.
